Hope your Thanksgiving was full of reflection and gratitude for all that you have!

Hi Everyone, I wish you love and happiness this wonderful day after Thanksgiving. I hope everyone had time to stop and think about how wonderful the gift of life is in spite of everything going on in the world.

I wanted to share with you something that I think is important. This past Tuesday I had the pleasure of  giving a facial to a beautiful young teenage girl who was suffering from acne.  She is from Colorado so I won’t get to treat her very often but I hope I gave her enough information to care for herself at home.

In my opinion her infectious skin eruptions are stemming from her typical teenage junk food diet AND most importantly, the fact that she eats her breakfast in the morning  BEFORE she does any oral hygiene at all. She waits until after breakfast to brush her teeth AND never even knew about scraping her tongue to remove the buildup of toxic waste before eating  or drinking first thing in the morning. She is a very bright girl. She asked so many great questions. She even asked if she should brush her teeth and scrape her tongue before she eats dinner at night as well since so many hours pass in between brushings. I said yes of course.

People don’t realize how much bacteria they put in to their systems by neglecting oral hygiene. She was so encouraged to finally have an answer to her skin problems. It is NOT enough to use good skin care products and have a good diet. You simply must follow some basic rules that can really save your life. This bacteria is not only a problem for your skin, it is a problem for your heart as well.  You can also expect fewer colds and will have a strengthened immune system because your body won’t be plagued with the burden of having to fight the infection you are willingly consuming by eating with a dirty germ ridden mouth.

The best tongue scraper I have ever used is from Breath RX. Nothing else can even compare to it. You can buy it in most drug stores. Using a water pik with some Kosher salt and peroxide added to it will also really help your gums.

Please follow this simple rule so that you too can have a chance at  a long and health filled life, and clear beautiful skin as well.

Thanks for reading and please pass this on.You can really make a difference in someone’s life if you do.

With love and gratitude to everyone,

Susan

Testimonial from a Very Special Client

“Dear Susan…on a personal note I want to tell you how much I enjoy coming to the spa each week. My experience and time spent is always so positive and wonderful and such a comfort to me. Gregory has been my savior and takes care of me so well. Last weekend I tried (at your suggestion) Julia for reflexogy and feel that it was so good for me. Again this weekend I will come back and extend my time with Julia to an hour to get an extended experience. My waxing I am doing with Anna and she is very nice as well. Your spa is my escape and all of your staff has made me feel so welcome and at ease. And we must not forget the desk Felix is just a doll. Nothing is ever too much for him…you have created a true “wellness” center and I admire you for building such a wonderful team! warmest regards” -F.C.

Healthy holiday cooking

Hi People, this is a tough time of the year for many reasons. There is also a lot of joy to be experienced as well.

Food brings people together. I wanted to remind everyone that heart attacks are up really high on Thanksgiving and the day after. I think it is because we use too much butter when we are making this dinner. Here are some healthful tips:

Try using olive oil instead of butter as much as possible. Don’t use extra virgin olive oil (unless it is for your salad) because the flavor is so rich and fruity. Regular olive oil has a more bland flavor which is perfect for this purpose. After you wash your turkey inside and out with Kosher salt, dry it well with paper towels. Then rub the inside and out with olive oil instead of butter. Then proceed as you normally would.

When baking your desserts, use organic coconut oil in place of butter as much as possible. Especially when greasing your pans before baking. Your flour will still stick to it but it just looks a little bit funky. Don’t be put off, it still works.

Use buttermilk which is naturally low in fat when making your mashed potatoes with just a teaspoon of butter instead of a stick of butter. Not only is it less fattening but it is really delicious.

If you are making any side dishes with bacon or pancetta, take the time to remove all of the white fat from it. You will still get the bacon flavor without the fat. Use olive oil as your lipid of choice while sauteing your foods instead of counting on the bacon fat.

Pumpkin pie is healthier as a desert than pecan pie. Since Thanksgiving dinner is so high in calories to begin with, why not save some calaries and make a less rich dessert. I am making apple tart tartin since there is no top crust, and also pumpkin pie with buttermilk and grade b maple syrup and honey instead of sugar since it is high in fiber and vitamins etc making it less indulgent. Because I use fresh ground spices nobody ever thinks I compromised on my desserts.

Remember your stomach is only as big as your closed fist. Try to serve dinner as close to peoples arrival time as possible so that your guests don’t fill up on appetizers instead of the meal. And you are helping them NOT over eat. I will be serving my guests celery, carrots and radishes with a blend of goat cheese and yogurt dip with fresh herbs. This way, they can have a nibble while I am whipping everything together last minute.

Really have a Health and Happy Thanksgiving.

xoxo

My segment with Patty is on Millionaire Matchmaker tomorrow night

Patty is so plugged in to people on a divine level  that she can tell when a couple is going to make it or not. She is really careful about peoples attitudes towards love and relationships. She really cares about peoples divine  happiness and has their best interest at heart. That is why she had one of her woman do a crystal healing with me at my spa to get her ready to meet her possible soul mate  in New York City. She really wanted this woman to  clear her negative energy. This can help her feel divine love. It changed her attitude towards herself. It made her softer and more approachable.  This can help her find real everlasting love. See what it is all about tomorrow night on BRAVO.
