Hydradermabrasion v. Microdermabrasion

The global wellness economy has grown drastically throughout the years now, more so, than ever. The beauty and anti-aging sector are at an all time high, with the question remaining for most us, How can us women maintain our youthful glow?” With all the new innovative technology and procedures out there to answer these questions, we here at Susan Ciminelli decided to focus on two popular treatments where we are often asked why one over the other?

Hydradermabrasion and Microdermabrasion can offer great results and there are many benefits to both options, however, there are major differences. Hydradermabrasion is a nonabrasive treatment that’s designed for ALL skin types. A small tube acts as a suction combining the natural elements of oxygen and water to improve the skins texture.

The water and oxygen hydrate the skin increasing antioxidants, decrease large and clogged pores, and builds up collagen. It also helps to remove dead skin cells by exfoliation.

One of our estheticians of over 17 years, Anna, commented on the two types of treatments.

Hydradermabrasion, uses two different approaches, by cleaning the skin deeply, and at the same time hydrates. It is gentle, and it is similar to gently sucking your skin for glowing results. Microdermabrasion is very abrasive; they use a different technique with the machine. It can be compared to sanding your face, leaving it red after the treatment. This technique is not for people with thin and sensitive skin due to irritation.

Microdermabrasion, however, is a procedure that exfoliates and removes the first layer of dry, dead skin cells by using tiny rough grains to buff away the surface layer. The grains, or diamond tipped wand, move over the areas on your face, applying steady pressure to remove the dead skin cells. The vacuum action tends to cause blemishes if the skin tension is le
t up or uneven. The lip area is also susceptible to bruising. Treatment that is too deep or intense can cause permanent discoloration to the skin.

Curious? Give hydradermabrasion a try, and experience the benefits it has to offer here at Susan Ciminelli. Our clients truly love their results! If you are an individual with scars, acne, dark spots, puffy eyes and black heads- you may want to consider booking an appointment to give the newest skincare technology a chance.
